The settee is much more than one accessory in our living rooms. It forms integral part of it and, for much, it constitutes even the center of the attention. For this reason it should, initially, be chosen with more the great attention, which is an essential stage to be able thereafter to maintain it easily and to keep it during many years. But before putting the question of maintenance, it is necessary to have chosen already well its model of settee in terms of durability of the piece of furniture. Indeed, the settees of which the structure is made in beech or plywood will be generally more solid, and the cross-pieces out of wooden are also advisable. The stuffing of a settee offers according to the models a resistance (impact strength) more or less important
. Foams “high impact strength” make it possible to preserve the shape of origin of the settee during many years and are also much more comfortable.
Then, and it is there that the aspect real maintenance intervenes in which you play a true part, comes the maintenance strictly speaking which, according to the type of coating, can go from occasional cleaning to a more complete maintenance when it is for example about leather.
To choose your coating, think-therefore with the type of cleaning which you are ready to carry out regularly as with the stains which are likely to occur. It is obvious that a couple without children and animals will be able to allow coatings more fragile than a family with three children, a dog and a cat! In this last case, it can be judicious to choose a model déhoussable and machine washable or, failing this, to cover oneself the settee to avoid the accidents. Will also know that the tasks will be more visible on a plain settee. There exists that known as of the treated settees Teflon or scotchgard, which thus comprises a coating anti-tasks and for which a simple sponge blow is enough in the event of accident.
Lastly, will know that leather, although requiring a particular maintenance and fearing for example the light or heat, it also comprises many advantages. Leather is for example much more durable and, for treated leather, it is simply enough to vacuum-clean regularly because leather with the characteristic not to let the odors impregnate stuffing, and an immediate sponge blow is often enough in the event of task. Leather also has the advantage of not causing any allergy and of being absolutely unattackable by the acarina, while tearing much less easily than any other matter and while being very comfortable from the thermal point of view, contrary with the PVC settees which tend to make increase the temperature of the body and thus to make perspire.
Thus, all the settees are not worth as regards maintenance, and it is very important to take into account this factor before any purchase of a new settee for your living room because, indeed, to benefit from its settee wants to also say to be able “to live” with, that one has an big family or not, and to pass its life to fear the least task removes much with the function relieving which a settee at the beginning should have.
